About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Aquaculture Support Worker to join our team at Macs Oysters Ltd. As an Aquaculture Support Worker, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our aquaculture equipment and facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Cleaning and Sanitizing Equipment: Clean, sanitize, and dry aquaculture equipment before the next use to prevent the introduction of pathogens and disease.
  • Maintenance and Operation: Maintain and operate aquaculture equipment, ensuring it is in good working condition.
  • Stock Management: Report stock irregularities to supervisors, cull, mark, or tag aquaculture stocks as needed.
  • Enclosure Maintenance: Clean and maintain aquaculture enclosures, ensuring they are free from debris and disease.
  • Marine Plant Harvesting: Rake and gather marine plants, transport them to processing plants, and clean, sort, and pack shellfish.
  • Weight Handling: Handle weights up to 23 kg (50 lbs) as required.
Work Environment

As an Aquaculture Support Worker, you will work outdoors in a wet and damp environment, exposed to odors and potentially hazardous conditions. You must be physically fit and able to work under pressure, with repetitive tasks and manual dexterity required.

Requirements
  • Dependability: Demonstrate dependability and a strong work ethic.

  • Language: Fluency in English is required.
  • Work Hours: Work 40 hours per week, with a permanent work term.
