Job Summary

Velocity Truck Centres Canada is seeking a skilled Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our team in Duncan, BC. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of commercial transport vehicles, including trucks, trailers, buses, and other heavy equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Vehicle Inspection and Diagnosis: Conduct thorough inspections of commercial vehicles to identify mechanical issues and diagnose problems using advanced diagnostic tools and techniques.
  • Repair and Maintenance: Perform repairs and preventive maintenance tasks to ensure the safety, reliability, and efficiency of commercial vehicles, including engine overhauls, brake adjustments, and suspension repairs.
  • Component Replacement: Replace faulty components with genuine or compatible parts to maintain the functionality and performance of commercial vehicles.
  • Documentation and Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance activities, repairs performed, and parts used to comply with regulatory requirements and facilitate efficient workflow.
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate with team members to prioritize tasks, share knowledge, and deliver exceptional customer service to fleet managers, drivers, and other stakeholders.
Requirements
  • Heavy Duty Mechanic Journeyman Certificate with Red Seal
  • BC Class 5 driver's license (Class 3 with air brakes or Class 1 is considered an asset)
  • Must have own tools (required tool list will be provided)
  • Mechanically inclined with a strong aptitude for diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance
  • Self-starter able to work in a fast-paced, detailed, and process-driven environment
  • Ability to work in a physical capacity including heavy lifting and using tools throughout the shift
  • Use of computerized scanning equipment, able to use digital technology/mechanical software
