Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Residential Counsellor to join our Developmental Services team. The successful candidate will provide support and guidance to individuals with developmental disabilities or dual diagnosis, promoting their independence and well-being in a residential setting.
Key Responsibilities- Provide individualized support and counselling to residents, focusing on life skills development, social skills, and community integration.
- Develop and implement personalized plans to promote residents' independence and self-advocacy.
- Collaborate with other team members to ensure a comprehensive and coordinated approach to support residents' needs.
- Monitor and report on residents' progress, identifying areas for improvement and developing strategies to address challenges.
- Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in areas such as crisis intervention, behaviour management, and trauma-informed care.
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in a related field, such as social work, psychology, or education.
- Minimum two years of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or dual diagnosis.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with residents, families, and colleagues.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a focus on collaboration and mutual support.
