The Manitoba Government is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to fill the position of Fire Operations Manager in the Regional Fire Centre. The successful candidate will be part of a team dedicated to wildfire management and prevention in the region.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and oversee various aspects of the regional wildfire management program, including prevention, detection, pre-suppression, and suppression operations.
- Manage operations in the Regional Fire Centre, Fire Warehouse, and Mechanics Shop.
- Lead regional training initiatives and develop training programs for wildfire management personnel.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures for wildfire management and prevention.
- Collaborate with other departments and agencies to ensure effective wildfire management and prevention strategies.
- Provide strategic advice and guidance to senior management on wildfire management and prevention issues.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of a recognized resource-based or emergency management program.
- Experience in wildfires and emergency management best practices.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Supervisory experience.
- Financial management experience.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to provide strategic advice.
- Experience in policy and program implementation.
Requirements:
- Physically fit and able to work in challenging conditions.
- Valid Class 5 Manitoba Driver's Licence.
- Willingness to travel throughout the Province, including flying in small aircraft.
