Key Responsibilities:

Location: Central Branch of a Public Library

Employment Type: Full-Time

Working Hours: Tuesday to Thursday, Friday & Saturday

Compensation: $17.50 per hour

Core Duties Include:
  • Managing facility access, conducting regular patrols of both interior and exterior areas, and providing security escorts as necessary.
  • Utilizing and monitoring video surveillance systems.
  • Responding to alarm notifications and maintaining a proactive security presence.
  • Exhibiting professionalism and a compassionate approach in all interactions.
  • Assisting library staff, volunteers, and patrons by understanding and enforcing the Library's Rules of Conduct fairly and positively.
  • Documenting incidents using the Library's reporting tools and adhering to established procedures.

Emergency Response Duties:
  • Ensuring the safety of all individuals on-site during emergencies, including medical, fire, or severe weather situations.
  • Acting as the primary First Aid provider, which may involve administering medications or using emergency equipment.
  • Reporting all emergencies promptly and providing written documentation as required.

Essential Skills:
  • Delivering exceptional customer service with a courteous demeanor.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective communication across diverse groups.
  • Maintaining composure in high-pressure situations.
  • Writing clear and concise reports.
  • Conducting foot patrols to ensure security.
  • Communicating any issues to the Site Supervisor.
  • Demonstrating reliability and professionalism in all duties.
  • Identifying and reporting security breaches and safety hazards.

Qualifications:
  • Ability to meet physical demands, including extensive walking and standing.
  • Familiarity with relevant security legislation.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficiency in using computer systems.
  • Demonstrated reliability and professionalism.

Certification Requirements:
  • Standard First Aid and CPR Level C certification.
  • Valid Security License.
