Opportunity Overview:

The selected candidate will have the chance to become a part of the Outpatient Orthopedic Physiotherapy unit, where they will engage in physiotherapy evaluations and treatments for patients experiencing various orthopedic ailments. The role offers robust support from the Allied Health Area Manager, Physiotherapy Clinical Lead, and Physiotherapy Professional Practice Lead. Furthermore, the position includes the potential to guide Therapy Assistants and occasionally mentor Physiotherapy or Therapy Assistant students during their clinical placements.

Role Responsibilities:

As a Physiotherapist I (PT), your primary responsibility will be to deliver therapeutic interventions aimed at helping clients attain optimal physical functionality and independence in various contexts, including development, chronic conditions, disabilities, and functional decline. Your interventions will encompass a wide range of activities such as prevention, triage, screening, assessment, diagnosis, goal setting, treatment, management, education, consultation, resourcefulness enhancement, case management, and referral support for individuals, groups, and communities. You will actively involve clients and their families as essential members of the healthcare team, promoting their engagement in all care aspects. The PT will work collaboratively with patients and their families to determine, implement, and assess suitable rehabilitation strategies.

You will also participate in diverse interprofessional teams to foster awareness, enhance support systems, and engage in quality improvement initiatives. This includes collaboration with healthcare providers, patients, families, and other stakeholders to advance service delivery for clients. Additionally, you will contribute to quality enhancement efforts within the professional community, engage in peer mentoring, and oversee students. Clinical supervision of Therapy Assistants, Therapy Aides, and Provisional Physiotherapists may also be part of your responsibilities.

Required Qualifications:

A Bachelor's degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited university program and current registration with the College of Physiotherapists of Alberta are essential.
