QualificationsEducation
  • Completion of a trades certificate or diploma in plumbing
  • Equivalent experience will also be considered
Experience
  • Minimum of 5 years in the plumbing field
Work Environment
  • Experience in confined spaces
  • Comfortable working in wet or damp conditions
Work Setting
  • Various locations including commercial, industrial, institutional, and residential sites
Key Responsibilities
  • Interpret blueprints and specifications to determine plumbing system layouts
  • Prepare estimates and quotations for plumbing projects
  • Identify and mark locations for pipe connections and fixtures
  • Cut openings in walls and floors for pipe installation
  • Assemble pipes using various methods including soldering and welding
  • Schedule and manage personnel and equipment
  • Conduct tests for leaks using pressure gauges
  • Determine system requirements and appropriate pipe sizing
  • Estimate costs and materials needed for projects
  • Measure, cut, and shape pipes as required
Supervision
  • Oversee a small team of 1 to 2 individuals
Safety and Security
  • Must be bondable
  • Basic security clearance required
  • Criminal record and driving record checks are mandatory
Transportation and Travel
  • Vehicle provided by the employer
  • Valid driver's license is required
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks
  • Capable of bending, crouching, and kneeling
  • Strong hand-eye coordination
  • Ability to handle heavy loads
  • Willingness to work overtime and under pressure
Tools and Equipment
  • Must have personal safety equipment including steel-toed boots and hard hats
