Job Title: Mental Health Lead

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mental Health Lead to join our team at the Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, developing, implementing, and monitoring a student-focused mental health strategy and annual action plan that supports the spiritual, emotional, physical, and mental well-being of all students.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide strategic leadership to support the planning, development, implementation, and monitoring of the board student mental health three-year strategy and the annual action plan.
  • Serve as a liaison for provincial mental health initiatives and collaborate with other mental health leaders across the province to share learning and provide input to the development and implementation of initiatives and resources to support student mental health.
  • Work with district mental health teams and community partners to develop an integrated system of care and facilitate navigation for students and their families.
  • Participate in a board needs assessment and resource mapping to identify specific service delivery gaps in the area of mental health and addictions.
  • Draw on clinical and leadership experience to coordinate the delivery of evidence-based mental health promotion, prevention, and intervention programming for a range of stakeholders within the board, including school staff, board staff, parents, and students.
  • Develop and apply metrics to assess the impact of the action plan activities and initiatives.
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver workshops aimed at capacity building.
  • Develop and support web resources for staff to support student mental health.
  • Lead and coordinate HWCDSB initiatives in mental health, such as suicide prevention, intervention, and follow-up.
  • Assist in the further selection and implementation of mental health promotion and prevention programming strategies for the board.
  • Prepare reports for submission to the Ministry of Education and School Mental Health Ontario as required throughout the year on project activities and findings.
  • Prepare reports for submission to the HWCDSB Board of Trustees throughout the year.
  • Support the implementation and analysis of Catholic School Climate Surveys.
  • Support the identification and access of culturally relevant supports and resources of Indigenous and equity-deserving groups.
  • Member of the leadership response team for system crisis.
  • Provide support to staff for consultation purposes in the area of student mental health.
  • Collaborate with students, parent/guardians, and other HWCDSB student support services, including Equity Officer, Chaplaincy leaders, Student Success Teachers, Social Work, Psychology, Speech Language and Hearing, and Special Education.
Requirements:
  • Completion of a graduate degree (Masters or PhD) in Clinical/School Psychology or Social Work.
  • Registration with a provincial college governing mental health professionals.
  • Demonstrated knowledge, preferred skills, and relevant experience in self-declaring as belonging to an equity-deserving group, experience providing and/or facilitating adult learning, professional learning, and training, excellent written and verbal communication skills, extensive clinical experience within a school district setting, across the tiers of mental health, system planning and navigation, and a high degree of skill in coordination, organization, and planning within a fast-paced deadline-driven environment.
