About the Role:

Farm Boy is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Store Manager to join our team. As a key member of our store management team, you will be responsible for assisting the Store Manager in the day-to-day operation and management of the assigned store.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service while supporting Farm Boy's vision of delivering the best fresh shopping experience.
  • Team Leadership: Work with the Store Manager, Department Managers, and Retail Specialists to execute strategies aimed at achieving stated goals, such as financial results.
  • Communication: Lead the team through consistent and effective communication, including one-on-one coaching, huddles, metrics, product knowledge, and corporate policies and procedures.
  • Team Development: Develop, interview, train, review, coach, motivate, and recognize team members while maintaining confidentiality and trust.
  • Store Operations: Support the Store Manager in retail operations and deliverables, including inventory, ordering, item maintenance, quality and rotation, shrink, merchandising, invoicing, scheduling, payroll, and store security.
  • Store Management: Ensure the store is properly protected, and opening and closing procedures are conducted timely and appropriately. Maintain store financial information, safe management, document maintenance, and retention, while preserving the integrity of individual front-end staff.

Requirements:

  • Education: Typically requires completion of a post-secondary program with an emphasis in business, plus 5 to 7 years of progressively responsible managerial experience in retail, preferably in the perishable food industry, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Certifications: Successful completion of a Public Health Food Handler certification, Smart Serve plus Level A First Aid and Basic CPR certification, or the commitment to complete within 6 months.
  • Skills: Good knowledge of retail industry, food products, and superior standards of quality. Skilled at working in a fast-paced environment while maintaining priorities and a high level of performance. Excellent team building and team participation skills. Experience in working with various computer software programs, including Microsoft Office.
  • Availability: Flexible schedule, including weekends, evenings, and holidays. Fluency in English and French is considered an asset.

Physical Demands: Required to stand and walk for long periods of time during shift.
