Opportunity Overview

The Facility Operator role entails overseeing the daily safe and customer-focused operations related to waste treatment, oil processing, and water injection. The Operator will support the implementation of standard operating procedures, conduct hazard assessments, and participate in safety and environmental protection initiatives. Regular interaction with clients is essential, necessitating exceptional communication skills and a strong customer service orientation.

Daily Responsibilities

Key responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Managing the daily operations of the facility with accountability
  • Overseeing truck unloading and the operation of oil emulsion and water & vac trucks
  • Conducting oil treatment processes using treaters, coolers, or tanks
  • Engaging in waste processing, including waste and mud tank operations, shaker & centrifuge functions, and solids treatment
  • Ensuring compliance with Measurement & Crude Oil Quality standards during the receipt, storage, and transportation of crude oil
  • Administering ongoing water injection, filter changes, and pump maintenance
  • Performing treatment of solids on the waste pad
  • Managing boiler operations, testing, and steam system activities
  • Adhering to all corporate compliance programs
  • Compiling truck ticket summaries, daily plant checklists, and balance and transfer reports for the office
  • Participating in the Health & Safety Management System (HSMS)
  • Operating the waste plant to ensure solids processing meets landfill criteria and conducting solids testing
  • Following water injection standard operating procedures and best practices to maintain well integrity
  • Performing general maintenance to ensure the facility remains clean and safe

Qualifications and Skills

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A High School Diploma, General Education Diploma, or equivalent
  • At least 3 years of operational experience in waste processing, oil treatment, or water injection
  • Experience in midstream terminal operations is a significant advantage
  • Specialized training in boilers, treaters, pumps, repairs, shaker/centrifuge, and loaders is beneficial
  • Proven expertise in safety operations, oil treatment & blending, waste processing, and water disposal
  • Valid safety certifications, including H2S Alive, First Aid Level One C, Confined Space Entry, WHIMS, and TDG
  • Strong attention to detail and communication skills, with the ability to work in a demanding environment
  • Capability to document work, manage cross-shift communication, and ensure effective communication with stakeholders
  • Ability to multitask and demonstrate sound decision-making skills for troubleshooting
  • Excellent customer service skills and adherence to safe work practices
  • A valid driver's license and successful completion of pre-employment testing
