Your Opportunity:

As a member of the Alberta Health Services Pharmacy Services team, the Pharmacist I will provide high-quality direct patient care for both acute care beds and long-term care beds. The Pharmacist I will also support drug distribution functions with the technician and/or assistant team at the site. The pharmacist will:

  • Actively participate in interdisciplinary patient care teams and rounds;
  • Collaborate with patients, physicians, and the interdisciplinary team to optimize patient care;
  • Utilize Additional Prescribing Authorization to optimize patient medication regimens;
  • Optimize therapy for acute and chronic disease management;
  • Empower patients in managing their medical conditions through promotion of healthy lifestyle choices, education, and direct patient care;
  • Facilitate smooth transitions between care settings;
  • Actively participate in professional practice development and growth with support from dedicated Clinical Practice Leaders and pharmacy managers.

Key Responsibilities:

The Pharmacist I will be responsible for the safe, effective, and efficient preparation and distribution of pharmaceutical services. This includes managing medication therapy for patients, both initially and on an ongoing basis. Additionally, the Pharmacist I will provide assessment, intervention, and resolution of potential or actual drug-related problems and oversee activities related to compounding and packaging.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP).

Preferred Qualifications:

Recent rural hospital experience working with multidisciplinary teams. Ability to work effectively both in a team environment and independently. Ability to use evidence-based medicine in direct patient care. Demonstrates computer literacy skills, good time management, capable of making decisions, and working independently and cooperatively in team environments.
