Your Opportunity:
As a member of the Alberta Health Services Pharmacy Services team, the Pharmacist I will provide high-quality direct patient care for both acute care beds and long-term care beds. The Pharmacist I will also support drug distribution functions with the technician and/or assistant team at the site. The pharmacist will actively participate in interdisciplinary patient care teams and rounds, collaborate with patients, physicians, and the interdisciplinary team to optimize patient care, and utilize Additional Prescribing Authorization to optimize patient medication regimens.
Description:
The Pharmacist I will be responsible for the safe, effective, and efficient preparation and distribution of pharmaceutical services. This includes managing medication therapy for patients, both initially and on an ongoing basis, and providing assessment, intervention, and resolution of potential or actual drug-related problems. The pharmacist will also oversee activities related to compounding and packaging.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality direct patient care for acute care beds and long-term care beds
- Support drug distribution functions with the technician and/or assistant team
- Actively participate in interdisciplinary patient care teams and rounds
- Collaborate with patients, physicians, and the interdisciplinary team to optimize patient care
- Utilize Additional Prescribing Authorization to optimize patient medication regimens
- Manage medication therapy for patients, both initially and on an ongoing basis
- Provide assessment, intervention, and resolution of potential or actual drug-related problems
- Oversee activities related to compounding and packaging
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP).
Preferred Qualifications:
Recent rural hospital experience working with multidisciplinary teams. Ability to work effectively both in a team environment and independently. Ability to use evidence-based medicine in direct patient care. Demonstrates computer literacy skills, good time management, capable of making decisions, and working independently and cooperatively in team environments.
