Position Overview:

The successful candidate will be responsible for representing STM in various legal matters, particularly in civil courts and administrative settings. This role involves providing legal counsel to different departments within the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the legal representative for STM in civil litigation and administrative proceedings.
  • Offer legal guidance and support to various internal teams.
  • Focus on areas such as construction law, public contract law, and infrastructure-related legal issues.
  • Engage in dispute resolution and mediation processes.
  • Defend STM's interests in legal disputes and initiate actions against external parties when necessary.
  • Negotiate and draft contracts and agreements.
  • Ensure adherence to applicable laws and regulations.
  • Provide comprehensive legal opinions and strategic advice.
  • Conduct thorough legal research to support casework.
  • Oversee large-scale legal projects and initiatives.
  • Offer expert guidance in specialized legal areas.
  • Serve as a mentor and consultant to junior legal staff.
  • Supervise both professional and administrative legal personnel.

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor degree or equivalent in law.
  • 0-5 years of relevant legal experience.
  • Active member of the Quebec Bar Association.
  • Demonstrated skills in teamwork, planning, performance orientation, analytical thinking, interpersonal relations, client service, negotiation, attention to detail, and effective communication.
  • Experience in infrastructure construction projects is considered an asset.
