Job Title: Mental Health Therapist - Student Support Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Mental Health Therapist to join our team as a Student Support Specialist. As a Mental Health Therapist, you will work collaboratively with schools to support students with complex mental health issues.

  • Collaborate with schools to determine the most appropriate mental health programming for students identified as having mental health needs.
  • Develop treatment programs for students transitioning out of tertiary care services.
  • Support schools to navigate tertiary care services for students.
  • Support school staff to accommodate school environments to support students and their treatment needs.
  • Support families experiencing mental health issues by attending appointments, liaising with service providers, and providing information and recommendations.
  • Provide crisis counselling to staff and students when crisis incidents affect the health, safety, and well-being of the school community.
  • Design and deliver student-focused professional learning sessions for schools.
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement mental health programs for students with complex needs.
  • Collaborate with school staff to create a supportive learning environment.
  • Provide individual and group counselling services to students.
  • Support families and caregivers in navigating mental health services.
  • Stay up-to-date with best practices in mental health and education.
Requirements
  • Undergraduate degree in a related field.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in a related field, including knowledge and experience with students who have complex mental health issues.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong relationship-building skills.

Job Type and Contract

This is a full-time, fixed-term contract position.

Contract length: 10 months.

Pay: $1,576.05-$2,013.90 per week.
