Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Freedom of Information Analyst to join our team at the Privacy and Access Council of Canada. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in supporting the processing of services within the scope of operations for our Freedom of Information Office.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Collaboration and Teamwork
  • Work collaboratively with internal and external partners to develop comprehensive tools and processes to support compliance with requests made under British Columbia's Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA).
  • Coordinate the ongoing development and implementation of Freedom of Information systems and repositories/inventories as required.
Request Processing and Support
  • Support requests for corporate records and internal/external consultations.
  • Compile data from various sources and generate reports to identify key themes and trends.
Business Process Improvement
  • Work with the FOI team to identify best practices and support improvements to FOI business processes, workflows, and standard operating procedures.
  • Maintain and monitor the FOI tracking system and prepare reports that identify key themes and trends.
Training and Education
  • Assist in the development and delivery of FIPPA education and corporate-wide awareness campaigns.
  • Support the Manager, Information Privacy and FOI with orientation of new staff and arrange identified training.
Communication and Liaison
  • Act as a liaison with all employees and medical staff across the organization as well as external partners to support and promote transparent and accountable access processes to information.
  • Maintain awareness of FOI trends and issues and act as a role model for continuous learning.
Requirements
  • Strong understanding of Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA) and its application in a health care organization.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a complex, dynamic environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
