Job Summary

The Revenue Accounting Specialist is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of Porter Airlines' passenger-related revenues. This role acts as a Business Partner to ensure appropriate accounting treatment is in place, providing analytics and data to support revenue reporting and decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:
  • General ledger postings and reconciliations
  • Financial analysis of revenue and unearned liability accounts
  • Ensuring internal controls are properly maintained
  • Implementing revenue initiatives, including accounting process, contract review, and systems testing
Areas of Responsibility:
  • Revenue accounting
  • Interline and code share accounting
  • E-ticket reconciliation
  • External fare audit
  • Airport and airline taxes and fees
  • Technology upgrades
Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Perform month-end activities and account reconciliations
  • Complete interline sales settlement processing
  • Monitor and review sales and settlements with interline partners and merchants
  • Ensure revenue accounting is compliant with accounting standards
  • Review contracts and provide feedback on accounting events
  • Liaise with external auditors
  • Develop reporting and analytics to support the balance sheet

Qualifications:
  • Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong IT skills, including knowledge of Excel, data warehouse, and business intelligence
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven ability to embrace technology for continuous process improvements
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite
Preferred Experience and Qualifications:
  • Previous airline industry experience with knowledge of e-ticket lifecycle and interline/code share accounting
  • Canadian professional accounting designation (CPA, CA, or CMA)
  • Self-starter with a sense of urgency and ability to operate in a fast-paced environment
