The Opportunity

ML6 Search + Talent Advisory is partnering with a leading manufacturing facility in the Industry & Water segment to find a Health, Safety & Compliance Specialist. This role will be instrumental in ensuring regulatory compliance, safety, and quality standards across operations at their South Shore (QC) Plant.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee regulatory compliance related to Environmental, Health, Safety, and Quality (EHSQ) within a chemical manufacturing environment.
  • Assist with the EHSQ, Risk Management Plan (RMP), and Process Safety Management (PSM) audit processes.
  • Analyze safety reports, identify non-compliance issues, and implement corrective actions focused on continuous improvement.
  • Manage compliance with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and maintain the Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT) program for Canadian sites.
  • Administer the Integrated Management Process and act as a technical advisor for the Emergency Response Assistance Plan (ERAP).
  • Lead the Internal Tier 1 Emergency Response Team and facilitate training on safety and compliance procedures.
  • Support emergency response efforts within the Varennes Industrial area.
  • Collaborate on the implementation of health and safety strategies to align with organizational culture.
  • Optimize key safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout, Confined Space Entry, and Hot Work Permits.
  • Ensure adherence to corporate health and safety policies and internal audit standards.
  • Coordinate health and safety training programs for all employees.

Requirements:

  • A university degree or a minimum of 5 years of experience in Occupational Health & Safety.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, with a preference for chemical industry experience.
  • Strong knowledge of Industrial Hygiene, Ergonomics, and Canadian Occupational Health & Safety regulations.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, make sound decisions, and prioritize tasks during emergencies.
  • A proactive approach to learning advanced safety features and adopting best safety practices.
  • Bilingual proficiency in French and English.
