Kitchen Assistant

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Kitchen Helper at the Wooden Nickel Saloon. As a key member of our kitchen staff, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our food service.
Key Responsibilities- Cleaning and Sanitation
- Ensure all kitchen equipment, utensils, and work surfaces are clean and sanitized at all times.
- Load and unload dishwashers, and wash and sanitize dishes, glassware, and flatware.
- Clean and sanitize kitchen floors, walls, and equipment.
- Food Preparation and Handling
- Prepare, heat, and finish simple food items, such as soups, salads, and sandwiches.
- Portion and wrap foods for service.
- Use manual and electrical appliances to clean, peel, slice, and trim foodstuffs.
- Supply Management
- Receive, unpack, and store supplies in refrigerators, freezers, cupboards, and other storage areas.
- Handle and store cleaning products and chemicals.
- Garbage and Waste Management
- Remove kitchen garbage and trash, and ensure the kitchen is kept clean and free of clutter.
- General Kitchen Duties
- Sweep, mop, wash, and polish floors.
- Wash, peel, and cut vegetables and fruit.
- Education
- Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
- Experience
- Experience is an asset, but not required.
- Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities
- Physically demanding work environment.
- Repetitive tasks and standing for extended periods.
- Work under pressure and attention to detail required.
- Personal Suitability
- Reliability and dependability.
- Team player with ability to multitask.
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
This is a temporary position with a variable schedule, including evenings and weekends. The successful candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment and must be able to lift up to 25 pounds and stand for extended periods.
