Key Responsibilities- Conduct and oversee pre-engineering and survey work to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Produce timely quantity and cost estimates to inform project decisions.
- Perform efficient and cost-effective contract administration, including recommending construction improvements based on assessments of field conditions.
- Contribute to the design of highways and structures, ensuring compliance with Department of Public Works' plans and specifications.
- Supervise office and technical staff, promoting a safe and engaged work environment.
- Maintain good public relations with various agencies, property owners, and the general public affected by highway construction and survey work.
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and registration with Engineers Nova Scotia as an Engineer-in-Training or Licensed to Practice.
- Technical expertise related to bridge and highway maintenance and rehabilitation strategies.
- Proficiency in a computerized environment, including Microsoft Suite and software used in an engineering and survey environment.
- Working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Public Highways Act.
- Experience managing budgets and principles of project management as it relates to highway and bridge construction.
