Role Summary:
The In-Patient Medicine & ICU Program consists of over 380 budgeted beds across the CVH & MH, staffed by inter-professional teams dedicated to the care of critically ill and complex medicine patients within the Mississauga-Halton LHIN. Our teams are committed to providing high-quality, patient-centered care in an innovative setting that addresses the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual needs of our patients. We aim to cultivate a diverse workforce that mirrors the community we serve.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver physiotherapy and occupational therapy assistance across various sites as assigned, including coverage during weekends and statutory holidays.
- Collaborate with the inter-professional team to facilitate effective care planning and ensure seamless transitions for patients.
- Practice under the guidance of an Occupational Therapist and/or Physiotherapist, adhering to relevant legislation, hospital policies, and professional standards.
- Contribute to the development of program and unit-level objectives, policies, procedures, and quality assurance initiatives.
- Complete workload measurement reporting in a timely manner.
- Provide clinical teaching, mentoring, and supervision for OTA/PTA students, engaging in inter-professional education experiences with students from various health disciplines.
Required Qualifications:
- Diploma from a recognized two-year college program for both Physiotherapy Assistant and Occupational Therapy Assistant.
- Proven experience and ability to work effectively in an inter-professional team environment.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support certification (or evidence of completion within three months of hire).
- Excellent attendance record.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, including problem-solving and negotiation abilities.
- Effective team player.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in inpatient medicine and/or intensive care units.
- Experience in providing education to patients and families in both individual and group settings.
- Evidence of ongoing professional development.
- Proficiency in a second language is considered an asset in serving our community.
