Your Responsibilities
  1. Guide, develop, and mentor direct reports by providing opportunities for professional growth.
  2. Foster exceptional employee engagement within the department and conduct annual engagement sessions/action plans.
  3. Oversee monthly/quarterly closing processes, ensuring that financial transactions and statements are thoroughly documented, complete, accurate, and compliant with applicable accounting standards (US GAAP/Canadian GAAP).
  4. Ensure accurate reporting of financial statements, considering the effects of foreign exchange (Functional currency is CAD, Reporting currency is USD).
  5. Supervise the preparation and review of account reconciliations and manage the Blackline system to ensure timely, well-documented reconciliations that adhere to corporate policies.
  6. Manage cash flow through inventory, collaborating closely with the Senior Manager of Inventory and Senior Manager of Supply Planning to implement cash-saving initiatives.
  7. Work in conjunction with US corporate treasury to manage the day-to-day Canadian treasury operations, including foreign exchange forecasting (hedging) and monthly cash flow projections.
  8. Lead discussions regarding revenue accounting, ensuring compliance with ASC 606 for revenue recognition.
  9. Provide clear and concise analyses of variances to budget/forecasts and emerging trends that may significantly impact financial performance, along with monthly commentary on business results.
  10. Drive various Finance initiatives, including improvements in inventory reporting and cost management through Cost Transformation for Growth initiatives.
Qualifications
  1. A Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance is required.
  2. 8+ years of progressive accounting experience with expertise in US GAAP and the Sarbanes-Oxley Act is essential.
  3. Technical accounting experience is necessary.
  4. Previous management or leadership experience is preferred.
  5. Familiarity with Oracle and Hyperion is advantageous.
  6. Internal candidates with a comparable combination of education, experience, and performance over time at Stryker will be considered.
