Counsellor (Single-Session/Same Day) - Mental Health Professional

Carleton University is seeking a highly skilled Counsellor (Single-Session/Same Day) to join our Health and Counselling Services team. As a key member of our team, you will provide Single-Session counselling, initial screening and risk assessment, and navigation to appropriate resources and services to clients, ensuring equitable, inclusive, and timely access to diverse mental health care.
Key Responsibilities- Assess client's psychological and emotional development, plan and implement therapeutic interventions, and participate in the ongoing evaluation of counselling service delivery.
- Provide quality health care to the Carleton University community in accordance with the policies, goals, and objectives of Health and Counselling Services.
- Develop and maintain strong therapeutic relationships with students, utilizing excellent communication skills and being sensitive, unbiased, and capable of independent work as well as working within a shared care model.
- Recognize limitations and know when to consult or seek supervision, ensuring the highest level of care for clients.
- Master's degree in a counselling field and/or social work, with current valid registration with Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers or College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario as a full Registered Psychotherapist (RP).
- Five years working as a counsellor and/or psychotherapist in diverse settings, including at least three years' experience in a college or university setting, preferably in the provision of Single-Session counselling and service navigation with diverse populations.
