Job Summary:
The Food and Nutrition Department at Southbridge Owen Sound is seeking a qualified Dietary Aide to join our dynamic team. As a Dietary Aide, you will play a vital role in ensuring our residents receive nutritious and delicious meals, prepared and served with care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve food to residents according to individual diets and preferences, maintaining proper serving temperatures.
- Assist cooks in cleaning and preparing uncooked food, such as salads, vegetables, and fruits, following basic instructions.
- Clear plates and trays, load and operate the dishwasher, and clean pots, pans, and cooking utensils as per procedure.
- Participate in proper storage and labeling of dietary supplies and food, including leftovers.
- Adhere to established departmental policies and procedures regarding quality assurance, fire safety, environmental, and infection control.
- Assemble nourishment carts and stock unit kitchenettes.
- Participate in facility meetings and attend in-service education programs as assigned.
Requirements:
- Successful completion of a Food Service Worker Program meeting the requirements of the Ontario Long-Term Care Homes Act, or enrollment with completion within three years of hire date.
- Safe Food Handling certificate.
- Previous dietary experience in a Long-Term Care Home, preferably 0-1 year.
- Ability to stand for long periods, read and write English, and understand simple verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to work safely, following established safety practices and procedures.
- Ability to do moderate to heavy lifting.
- Availability to work days, evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays.
