Nature-Based Preschool Facilitator

Position Overview:

The District of Saanich is in search of dedicated preschool support staff to join our ECO (Educating Children Outside) initiative. This role involves providing on-call assistance in an outdoor setting for preschool-aged children. The selected individuals will collaborate closely with the Preschool Instructor to implement the ECO Program at a local nature sanctuary.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Preschool Instructor in leading a play-oriented outdoor education program.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants.
  • Engage positively with children, parents, colleagues, and supervisors.

Qualifications:

Candidates should possess the following:

  • Completion of Grade 10.
  • A minimum of three months of experience in recreational or instructional roles.
  • Current Emergency First-Aid and CPR-C certification.
  • A satisfactory police information check.

The ideal applicants will demonstrate flexibility and inclusivity, fostering a supportive environment for all participants. Strong interpersonal and customer service skills are essential, along with a high level of enthusiasm and self-motivation. Experience with preschool-aged children and those with behavioral or cognitive challenges is advantageous.

Work Schedule:

Successful candidates must be available for on-call shifts, particularly on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays during morning hours.
