Job Opportunity: Early Childhood Educator

The Greater Victoria School District No. 61 is seeking a certified Early Childhood Educator to join our team of educators in Kindergarten and early primary classrooms.

About the Role

Under the direction of the early learning and child care District Principal, the Early Childhood Educator will work in kindergarten and/or kindergarten/grade one classrooms, planning and facilitating play-based learning inquiries alongside the teacher. The classroom-based Early Childhood Educator is responsible for facilitating practices aligned with the BC Early Learning Framework.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with teachers to create a support plan that is responsive to the school context and serves to strengthen each student's personal developmental pathway.
  • Facilitate play-based learning inquiries and activities that promote student engagement and learning.
  • Work with teachers to develop and implement lesson plans that meet the needs of diverse learners.
  • Provide support to teachers in implementing the BC Early Learning Framework.
Requirements
  • Certificate in Early Childhood Education (two year)
  • Valid License issued by Community Care Facilities Branch BC
  • Valid Child Safe First Aid Certificate
  • One (1) year experience working with children in the early years (birth – 8 years)
What We Offer

This position falls within the CUPE 947 Collective Agreement at a pay rate of $32.42 per hour, plus a comprehensive benefits plan after successful completion of probation.
