Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Welding Engineer to join our team at Seaspan. As a Welding Engineer, you will be responsible for providing welding engineering support to all vessel construction activities at Vancouver Shipyards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement welding procedures to ensure high-quality welds.
  • Conduct welding inspections and quality control audits to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve welding processes and reduce costs.
  • Develop and maintain welding documentation, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Work Instructions (WIs).
  • Implement and maintain welding codes and standards, including ISO, Lloyds, DNV-GL, CSA, ASME, and AWS.
  • Conduct failure analysis and provide solutions to complex welding problems.
  • Develop and implement new welding technologies and techniques to improve weld quality and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and customers to ensure welding quality and compliance.
  • Develop and maintain welding training programs for Seaspan employees.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in welding engineering in a large manufacturing environment.
  • CSA W178.2 Level 1 or 2 Welding Inspector certification (or international equivalent).
  • Extensive knowledge of shipbuilding welding procedures and codes.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office and welding software.
