Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Senior SDET to join our team at the Royal Bank of Canada. As a Senior SDET, you will play a key role in designing and implementing testing solutions to address business challenges. You will work closely with our QE teams to develop contextually relevant testing processes and practices, leveraging industry-standard methodologies and tools. Your technical expertise will focus on test case design and optimization, test automation, and the implementation and enablement of the QE function.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support or lead the execution of automated testing frameworks, processes, and tools, and drive organizational change management practices to empower staff in assigned units.
  • Contribute to test strategy and technical solutions in your area of expertise, including leading QE work streams.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, grooming sessions, stand-up meetings, demo sessions, and retrospective meetings.
  • Support and lead the implementation of the QE Program and overall QE processes and standards through optimized test case design, test architecture, and utilization of automation frameworks.
  • Coordinate and lead E2E, integration, and UAT testing efforts.
  • Liaise with various stakeholders to meet deadlines for priorities that sometimes conflict.
  • Assess and analyze risks to test progress, work with manager to mitigate risks, and unblock self and team.
  • Automate test cases using RBC-recommended automation frameworks, executing test cases manually and/or running automated test scripts.
  • Potential to coordinate QE tasks and deliverables with vendor partner staff located in offshore locations.

Requirements

  • Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical degree/diploma.
  • 5+ years of experience designing test cases with a focus on optimized test design techniques.
  • Coding experience in Java, Python, or equivalent, hands-on SQL, and Linux knowledge.
  • Hands-on experience in developing and implementing automation frameworks and automation strategies in an Agile environment.
  • Experience with git, Jenkins, and code deployment tools.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Review automation code, test plans, and test cases written by peers.
  • Experience with model-based testing techniques and tools such as ConformIQ.
  • Wealth/Portfolio Management domain knowledge.
  • Tinker with things and make them work.
