Position Overview

This role is integral to our office, with the flexibility to work from home, a NORR office, or a remote location. NORR is a globally recognized, employee-owned architecture and engineering firm, comprising a diverse team of 800 professionals engaged in 12 market sectors across Canada, the US, UK, and UAE. For over 85 years, design thinking has been central to our mission, as we strive to push the limits of what is achievable to benefit both people and the planet.

Role in Justice Architecture

Justice architecture requires a comprehensive design approach to uphold and articulate the legal process, ensuring efficient and functional operations while fostering a secure environment. Our expertise in designing judicial buildings spans over three decades, covering all levels of government, including courthouses, police facilities, and correctional centers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and refine technical designs, ensuring architectural drawings meet quality standards, project timelines, and budget constraints.
  • Conduct design activities, including programming, code research, material selection, and area calculations.
  • Assess site conditions and perform thorough site surveys.
  • Review project deliverables, services, and shop drawings.
  • Manage permit response letters and coordinate revisions with engineers and consultants to secure necessary documentation and permits.
  • Collaborate with contractors, sub-consultants, and relevant authorities to address and document constructability issues or client concerns.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in all phases of the project lifecycle.
  • Expertise in architectural design software, including Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Familiarity with MEP and structural systems, as well as relevant building codes.
  • Completion of related post-secondary education.
  • Registration with a recognized professional architectural association.

Experience Requirements

  • 5-10 years of relevant project experience.
  • Experience in justice-related projects is advantageous.
