Job Overview

As a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality patient care, conducting triage, and performing nursing assessments across various areas of the department. Your role will involve providing care to both adult and pediatric patients, addressing all triage priorities effectively.

Key Responsibilities

You will be expected to demonstrate proficiency in a wide array of nursing skills, from stabilizing critically ill patients to administering first aid. Responsibilities may include the transportation of critical patients, such as those suffering from burns, neurological emergencies, and trauma, to appropriate facilities.

Required Qualifications

  • Active registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification approved by Heart & Stroke at the time of hire
  • Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required upon hiring and maintained thereafter
  • A minimum of 2 years of recent experience in Emergency nursing is essential
  • Proficiency in ECG monitoring and arrhythmia interpretation is required
  • Completion of post-diploma Emergency courses and successful passing of the Canadian Emergency Nursing Certificate Exam and/or ACLS is preferred
  • Computer literacy is advantageous
  • IV therapy skills are necessary
  • Strong teaching and public relations abilities are essential
  • Ability to work effectively within a team
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently
  • Must meet the physical demands of the role
  • A satisfactory record of employment and attendance is required

Work Schedule: Various rotating 12-hour shifts, subject to change based on operational needs.
