Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Activity Aide to join our team at Craiglee Nursing Home in Scarborough. As an Activity Aide, you will play a vital role in planning and implementing recreation programs that cater to the diverse needs and interests of our residents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized and group recreation programs that promote socialization, engagement, and overall well-being.
  • Collaborate with the Resident Program Manager to assess resident needs and preferences, and design programs that meet those needs.
  • Set up and maintain a safe and welcoming activity area, and transport residents to and from programs as needed.
  • Monitor resident behavior and condition during programs, and report any significant changes to the Program Manager and Nursing staff.
  • Participate in the development and revision of programs, and contribute to the creation of resident records and documentation.

Requirements:

  • Proof of successful completion of an approved Activation/Gerontology Degree.
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in a related field, preferably in gerontology or recreation therapy.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills, with the ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Knowledge and experience in care planning and resident assessments, with a focus on working with geriatric populations.
