Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Welders Assistant to join our team at Johnson Controls. As a key member of our manufacturing team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our production processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist tradespeople, supervisors, and/or general foremen with responsibilities related to project progress in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Familiarize yourself with and/or request training on new small/hand-held equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Operate cutting saws and small tools in the department, maintaining a high level of proficiency and attention to detail.
  • Ensure small/hand-held equipment is in good working order and notify the general foreman or supervisor of any malfunctions.
  • Assist with company inventory requirements, including unloading products received and loading finished products for delivery.
  • Contribute to shop hygiene and 5-S program initiatives, maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
  • Inspect large equipment to ensure good working order and notify the general foreman or supervisor of any malfunctions.
  • Report any unsafe conditions, practices, or procedures observed to the general foreman or supervisor.
  • May be required to move materials with a forklift or overhead crane if trained and authorized.
  • Perform all duties in accordance with Johnson Controls' safety program standards and Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Act, Regulations, and Code.
  • Other duties as required.

Requirements

  • Completion of high school or equivalent education (additional education or apprenticeship program that complements the laborer's performance is preferred).
  • Experience with all safe practices, procedures, and overall processes associated with manufacturing, from raw materials to finished products.

Working Conditions

  • Commercial/Industrial environment.
  • Manual dexterity required to use necessary tools.
  • Exercise caution, as the environment presents many naturally occurring hazards.
  • Always adhere to safety policies (wear protective equipment).
  • Long periods of standing.
  • Overtime as required.
