Key Responsibilities

  • Strategically develop and manage service delivery for designated programs or patient demographics, collaborating closely with the Head of Psychology and relevant management personnel.
  • Engage in activities that facilitate the coordination of interdisciplinary teams essential for effective clinic and program operations.
  • Administer a wide array of psychodiagnostic evaluations and therapeutic services, including cognitive assessments, educational evaluations, and psychotherapeutic interventions, such as individual and group therapy, behavior management, and play therapy.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of assessments, treatment strategies, and outcomes, providing insights to the treatment team.
  • Serve as the primary psychological resource for treatment teams and individuals within specified patient groups.
  • Offer recommendations for program development, evaluation, and the refinement of referral processes and case documentation standards.
  • Advocate for the department's services within the community and among professional groups as directed by leadership.
  • Provide guidance and information to colleagues, medical professionals, and hospital staff regarding psychological assessments and treatment approaches.
  • Conduct in-service training sessions for departmental staff and educational sessions for medical and healthcare trainees as required.
  • Represent the department in various professional meetings as assigned.
  • Supervise and assess Psychology Residents and other trainees, contributing to the training of pre- and postdoctoral fellows as appropriate.
  • Stay informed on current scientific literature relevant to practice areas and apply evidence-based approaches to clinical decision-making. Participate in clinical research and outcome evaluations as needed.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Valid registration with the College of Health and Care Professionals of British Columbia, or eligibility for registration.
  • Doctoral-level training in child clinical psychology, developmental psychology, pediatric neuropsychology, or a closely related field.
  • Relevant experience in clinical settings focusing on women, children, and adolescents.

Desired Skills

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to manage responsibilities efficiently and meet deadlines.
  • Strong organizational skills with the capacity to prioritize and implement objectives.
  • Proficient in teaching and instructional methods.
  • Competence in computer applications for report writing and data management.
  • Commitment to understanding and integrating legislative obligations and provincial commitments related to Indigenous Peoples' rights and reconciliation efforts.
  • Knowledge of the socio-political context affecting Indigenous communities and familiarity with anti-racism and cultural safety practices.
