Job Summary

Hamilton Health Sciences is seeking a skilled and compassionate Healthcare Aide to join our team. As an integral member of the healthcare team, you will provide clinical support to our inpatient care area and perform a variety of tasks to ensure the best possible care for our patients.

Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical support to the inpatient care area, including assisting with patient care, administering medications, and performing various medical procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with the healthcare team to ensure seamless patient care and effective communication.
  • Assist with patient transfers, admissions, and discharges, as needed.
  • Participate in ongoing education and training to stay up-to-date on the latest medical procedures and best practices.
Requirements
  • Personal Support Worker or Healthcare Aide Certificate or nursing student with successful completion of all level 2 courses at McMaster University or nursing student with successful completion of all level 2 courses in McMaster University and Mohawk College collaborative program or nursing student with successful completion of all level 1 courses in the Mohawk College Diploma program.
  • Computer familiarity or willingness to learn computer skills as required.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience (within the 5 years) of direct patient care required.
  • Demonstrated effective communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, teamwork skills.
  • Demonstrated initiative and judgement appropriate for the position.
  • Ability to accept assigned or delegated functions.
  • Ability to set priorities and organize work accordingly.
  • Ability to deal with various hospital departments effectively and collaboratively.
  • Ability to lift using appropriate lifting techniques and bend, push and pull using good body mechanics.
