As the largest energy provider in the province with over a century of expertise, we are dedicated to delivering renewable energy, natural gas, electricity, and propane to a vast customer base.

We are in search of talented individuals to help us in our mission to transform the energy landscape. Recognized as one of BC's Top Employers, we foster a diverse workforce of over 2,600 employees, committed to creating a safe and inclusive environment where everyone can connect, belong, and thrive.

Position Overview

Your analytical skills and meticulous attention to detail will ensure that our processes and procedures comply with external regulations, standards, and policies. Your extensive knowledge of compliance within the electric utility sector equips you to effectively manage compliance risks with well-crafted strategies. These attributes make you an ideal candidate for the Compliance Manager position.

Reporting to the Manager of Assets and Compliance, you will be responsible for establishing ongoing compliance and overseeing the development, implementation, and initiation of Mandatory Reliability Standards strategies, processes, and procedures in accordance with provincial and federal compliance legislation and legal requirements. You will also collaborate with Operations to ensure that safety, reliability, and system integrity are maintained.

In Year 1, You Will:
  • Develop trusting relationships with compliance colleagues and external organizations.
  • Understand workload demands and deadlines, organizing resources to meet deliverables.
  • Gain comprehensive knowledge of the Critical Infrastructure Protection standards and their application.
In Year 2, You Will:
  • Become a subject matter expert on FortisBC standards, processes, and procedures, assisting external auditors while demonstrating an understanding of audit processes.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvements in existing compliance processes.
  • Execute projects, ensuring adequate resources and tools are available for the team's tasks.
What It Takes:
  • A post-secondary degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, along with eight to twelve years of experience in electric utility operations, project management, or information systems, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proven experience in compliance planning, implementation, and measurement.
  • Strong analytical skills and a technical curiosity to explore processes with a focus on enhancing business objectives.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to influence and guide others without direct supervision.
  • Exceptional strategic and organizational skills to prioritize safety and manage risks in planning systems and tools.

Our engaging workplace offers a variety of challenging opportunities while promoting safety, inclusivity, and diversity. We provide a competitive salary and benefits package, supporting lifelong career development. We also encourage community involvement and volunteerism.
