In this essential position, you will take charge of the planning, assessment, and execution of projects associated with the environmental program.
Acting as the primary contact between the program, various stakeholders, sponsors, and community organizations, you will leverage your outstanding customer service, negotiation, and conflict resolution abilities to ensure program success.
Your responsibilities will encompass managing program data, adhering to budgetary constraints, and supervising staff while coordinating special events and volunteer opportunities.

- Program Oversight: Administer and supervise the implementation of the environmental program and related events.
- Sponsor Engagement: Manage relationships with sponsors and explore avenues for additional support.
- Community Engagement: Innovate and develop new strategies to involve the community.
- Event Planning: Organize, budget, and execute outreach events.
- Volunteer Coordination: Oversee volunteer activities and maintain partnership records.
- Compliance Assurance: Ensure adherence to relevant standards and regulations.
Qualifications:
- University Degree in Recreation, Project Management, Horticulture, Forestry, or a related field.
- A minimum of three (3) years of professional experience in community recreation and environmental education, including staff supervision.
- Proficiency in Google Suite, Microsoft Suite, SLIM GeoMedia, and GIS.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with volunteer management software for organizing and coordinating activities.
- Proven track record in planning and executing successful special events with meticulous attention to detail.
Leadership Responsibilities:
- Recruit, train, guide, and evaluate staff and volunteers.
Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Work with internal and external stakeholders, including contractors and corporate sponsors, on significant issues and programs.
Relationship Management:
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders and address complex issues effectively.
Program Administration Knowledge:
- Understanding of program administration principles, including research, planning, needs assessment, and contract negotiation.
Software Skills:
- Utilize project management skills to develop and implement processes that achieve objectives.
- Commit to the City of Edmonton's Cultural Commitments and Leadership Competencies, embracing equity, diversity, reconciliation, and inclusion.
Additional Requirements:
- Valid Alberta Class 5 driver's license (or provincial equivalent).
- Flexibility in working hours, including evenings and weekends.
