Job Summary:We are seeking a highly skilled Post Doctoral Fellow to contribute to our research team in the Mechanical Engineering department. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing a Machine Learning algorithm to quantify the safety of underground mine roofs and sidewalls using audio recordings of tool impacts.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and implement a Machine Learning algorithm to analyze audio recordings of tool impacts and predict the safety of underground mine roofs and sidewalls
- Collaborate with the research team to design and conduct experiments to collect and analyze data
- Analyze and interpret results, and make recommendations for improvement
- Develop and maintain documentation of the algorithm and its implementation
- Present research findings to the research team and at conferences
- PhD in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- Strong background in Machine Learning and data analysis
- Experience with audio signal processing and analysis
- Excellent programming skills in languages such as Python or MATLAB
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
