Role Responsibilities

Leadership and Coordination
  • Contribute to the Integrated Product Team (IPT) by facilitating the execution and coordination of engineering initiatives.
  • Offer technical guidance on subcontractor engagements and ensure alignment with overarching project goals.
  • Assist in the review and update of subcontract requirements, ensuring adherence to internal engineering protocols and client expectations.
Project Planning and Risk Management
  • Support project management efforts by aiding in the planning and execution of project scope, budget, and timelines, utilizing Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS) and established departmental guidelines.
  • Employ internal engineering tools to identify, communicate, and mitigate potential risks to guarantee project success.
  • Assist in the formulation of engineering proposals, Basis of Estimates (BOEs), and Rough Order Magnitudes (ROMs).
Stakeholder Engagement
  • Maintain communication with both internal and external stakeholders regarding project progress and status updates.
  • Participate in the preparation of project deliverables and attend necessary client meetings as dictated by contract requirements.
  • Collaborate with various GDLS divisions to ensure that all technical solutions comply with contractual and company standards.
  • Address technical inquiries from subcontractors and prepare appropriate responses as needed.
Qualifications
  • A degree or diploma in a relevant technical field.
  • A minimum of five years of pertinent experience.
  • A collaborative attitude and the ability to thrive in a team-oriented environment.
  • Capacity to remain productive and adaptable in a fast-paced work setting.
  • Proven skills in documenting, presenting, and justifying technical recommendations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to meet anthropometric size restrictions for confined spaces.
  • Willingness to travel (20% within Canada and 20% internationally) and possess or be able to obtain a valid passport.
Eligibility Requirements
  • Must qualify for registration with the Controlled Goods Program.
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Canadian government "Reliability" status or Level 2 (Secret) security clearance.
Preferred Experience
  • Familiarity with Heavy Truck (Class 8) and ancillary equipment solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience in cross-functional teamwork and providing technical leadership.
  • Experience in supervising technical teams, delegating tasks, and managing project costs and schedules.
  • Background in major contract and subcontract development and execution.
  • Professional Engineering designation is advantageous.
  • Experience with military contracts is a plus.
Work Environment
  • Office and shop floor settings.
Physical Demands

This role requires various mobility demands including standing, walking, sitting, and climbing stairs to access upper office areas.
