Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled National Director of Credit and Business Development to join our team at the Bank of Montreal. This is a senior-level role that requires a deep understanding of commercial lending and business development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Facilitate decision-making and analysis of credit information to support lending decisions and processes.
  • Maintain and promote a client service environment to satisfy and exceed customer needs and expectations.
  • Make credit decisions and recommendations in accordance with sound credit-granting principles and in compliance with Bank Policies & Procedures.
  • Provide professionally packaged advice and solutions to corporate clients and prospects to fulfill client needs and generate revenue for the bank.
  • Lead and execute business development plans to achieve or exceed business goals.
  • Create and sustain consistent superior service to customers/clients and prospects.
  • Develop an expert understanding of business/group challenges.
  • Network with industry contacts to gather competitive insights and best practices.
  • Recommend measures to improve organizational effectiveness.
  • May consult to or serve on various committees and task forces.
  • Recommend business priorities, advise on resource requirements and develop roadmap for strategic execution.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to develop consistent and appropriate customer presentations, craft detailed correspondence, presentations and proposals.
  • Ensure alignment between stakeholders.
  • Develop and apply the framework for databases; oversee database management in adherence with data governance standards.
  • Monitor and track performance, and address any issues.
  • Lead the development of the communication strategy focusing on positively influencing or changing behavior.
  • Collaborate across the bank to develop communications strategies and ensure consistency of messaging, in order to positively influence or change behavior.
  • Identify issues, gaps and process improvements through open communication and monitoring of productivity against benchmarks.
  • Lead the execution of operational programs; assess and adapt as needed to ensure quality of execution.
  • Provide accurate financial analysis and risk assessment of new and existing customers.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders for accurate, detailed client information.
  • Develop credit information to make lending decisions on new, renewal and extension loans.
  • Assist in negotiations of terms and conditions of all decisions made via phone and e-mail interaction with clients.
  • Prepare summary, present facts and offer opinions concerning credit worthiness.
  • Minimize the bank's risk exposure by adhering to internal credit policies and procedures with respect to lending decisions.
  • Provide input into the planning and implementation of operational programs.
  • Build effective relationships with internal/external stakeholders.
  • Operate at a group/enterprise-wide level and serve as a senior specialist resource across the bank.
  • Influence how teams/groups work together.
  • Apply expertise and think creatively to address unique or ambiguous situations and to find solutions to multiple, interdependent, complex problems.
  • Communicate abstract concepts in simple terms.
  • Foster strong internal and external networks and work with and across multiple teams to achieve business objectives.
  • Anticipate trends and respond by implementing appropriate changes.
Qualifications
  • Typically 9+ years of relevant experience and post-secondary degree in related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Seasoned expert with extensive industry knowledge.
  • Technical leader viewed as a thought leader for innovation.

Compensation

The salary for this role is $103,192,500.00 per year, paid on a salaried basis.

The total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.

The bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, tuition reimbursement, accident and life insurance, and retirement savings plans.
