Role Summary:
The Neurophysiology Technologist plays a crucial role in ensuring patient safety during surgical interventions by conducting intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring. This position requires collaboration with surgical and anesthesia teams to monitor and analyze neurophysiological data in real-time.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute routine and specialized neurophysiological assessments, including SSEP, EMG, BAEP, and MEP, to evaluate central nervous system function during surgical procedures.
- Prepare and calibrate monitoring devices, ensuring they operate effectively throughout surgeries.
- Work closely with the surgical team to deliver timely and precise neurophysiological data.
- Analyze monitoring results and provide immediate feedback to the surgical team to address potential risks.
- Document and communicate neurophysiological observations and any significant changes observed during procedures.
- Maintain and troubleshoot monitoring equipment to guarantee optimal functionality.
- Stay informed about advancements in intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring techniques and technologies.
- Ensure a safe working environment for colleagues, patients, and visitors.
- Collaborate with team members to maximize resource utilization.
- Foster a patient-centered atmosphere.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Health Sciences or Biological Sciences (Kinesiology and Neuroscience) is strongly preferred.
- A Master's degree in Health Sciences or Biological Sciences is advantageous.
- Comprehensive understanding of neuroanatomy and neurophysiology is preferred.
- Proven experience in intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring is highly desirable.
- Certification as a Neurophysiological Monitoring Technologist (CNIM) is preferred; equivalent experience may be considered.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail for interpreting complex data.
- Ability to maintain composure under pressure and respond promptly to intraoperative changes.
- Current CPR certification is preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational capabilities combined with effective problem-solving skills.
