Main Purpose and Function

The Senior Electrical Engineer, Traffic Signal Design and Construction is responsible for managing the delivery of annual electrical work and overseeing the design team. This position reports directly to the Associate Director, Electrical Design and is responsible for ensuring timely and quality services to clients internal and external to the City of Vancouver.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the Electrical Design staff in delivering on strategic objectives and the continuous improvement of services related to the City's electrical infrastructure.
  • Assist in prioritization, administration, and execution of the electrical infrastructure capital plan, working in partnership with the Divisional Asset Manager/Engineer and Operations.
  • Ensure asset management strategies and plans are established for all electrical infrastructure.
  • Manage the technical staff to ensure delivery in accordance with standards, regulations, and specifications.
  • Conduct internal audits and lead the team for external audits.
  • Ensure safety program and standards are in place and followed by staff.
  • Participate and partner with other government, public, and private organizations related to the City's practices with electrical design.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with a Professional Engineer designation and minimum 6 years related experience in design and construction project engineering work, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer in British Columbia.
  • Project Management Credentials (PMP) or equivalent is preferred.
Working Environment

The City of Vancouver has a Flexible Work Program, which allows staff to work remotely 1-4 days a week from locations that are a daily commutable distance from their work at a City worksite. This position is eligible to be part of the Flexible Work Program.
