Job Title: Construction Estimator

Surface 1 Inc. is seeking a skilled Construction Estimator to join our team. As a key member of our estimating department, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and detailed estimates for construction projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Estimating: Prepare estimates of labour and/or material costs for construction projects.
  • Pre-qualification Submissions: Prepare pre-qualification submissions to present to clients.
  • Blueprint Analysis: Read blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine work requirements.
  • Estimate Preparation: Prepare master format estimates (Class A) and elemental format estimates (Classes B, C, D).
  • Software Operations: Operate CADD and other computer software systems.
  • Expense Estimation: Prepare estimates for general expenses and overheads.
  • Feasibility Studies: Provide economic feasibility studies and preliminary estimates for proposed projects.
  • Cash Flow Management: Project cash flow and financing requirements.
  • Reporting: Create and submit estimate reports, quote sheets, and bids forms.
  • Quantity Take-Off: Utilize quantity take-off procedures.
  • Tender Analysis: Analyze tenders and recommend awards.
  • Cost Monitoring: Set up cost monitoring and reporting systems.
  • Contract Management: Monitor and adjust contract expenditures.
  • Supply Directory: Prepare and maintain a directory of supplies and trade contractors.
  • Liaison: Liaise, consult, and communicate with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates.
