Unit Summary
Hamilton Health Sciences is seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our dynamic team in the Heart Investigation Unit (HIU). As a critical care nurse, you will have the opportunity to expand your skills and knowledge in a fast-paced and changing environment.
Position Summary
The Registered Nurse plays a crucial role in our mission-driven team, working in both the cardiac catheterization laboratories and the recovery & reception area. This unique environment provides staff with the opportunity to participate in and help advance care of patients throughout their time in the HIU.
Qualifications
- Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Nurse
- Current BCLS certification, ACLS certification
- Recent 2 years experience in acute cardiac care nursing and critical care nursing
- Recent 2 years experience with interventional cardiology procedures
- Recent 2 years experience in and successful completion of ECG interpretation/treatment, hemodynamic monitoring, ventilation, IV access, venipuncture, defibrillation, pacemakers
- Demonstrated knowledge of the assessment and management of an acute cardiac population and critically ill adults
- Demonstrated knowledge of the nursing care planning process and evidence of the ability to utilize problem-solving and critical thinking techniques effectively in a critical care setting
- Demonstrated interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills
- Ability to perform well in critical high stress situations
- Ability to wear lead for extended periods of time
As a condition of employment, you are required to submit proof of full COVID-19 vaccination to Employee Health Services.
