About This Opportunity

The Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking physicians to join our team as Primary and Secondary Assessors for the Practice Ready Assessment Program (PRAP). As an Assessor, you will play a critical role in helping bring physicians to underserved areas in Nova Scotia.

Qualifications

To be considered for this opportunity, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Hold a full license to practice family medicine in Nova Scotia;
  • Be in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia;
  • Have been practicing family medicine in Canada with a scope of family practice similar to that required in underserved communities;
  • Have national certification (CFPC) in family medicine (preferable);
  • Have privileges with Nova Scotia Health;
  • Hold a faculty appointment with the Dalhousie University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Family Medicine;
  • Have experience in assessing family medicine residents (asset).

Assessor training precedes the clinical field assessment, which typically takes place in March and September annually.

Compensation

Assessors will be paid at the current MSI sessional rate for each 6-week assessment period. Additionally, the Nova Scotia Department of Health & Wellness will provide an annual payment to approved family physicians who commit to overseeing a practice ready assessment.
