Job Overview

The Airport Operations Supervisor plays a crucial role within the leadership team at Porter Airlines, overseeing the safe and efficient turnaround of aircraft, enhancing passenger service quality, and ensuring a positive experience for team members at the station. This position involves a rotating schedule and requires collaboration with the Hub Manager to provide consistent leadership throughout the week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in a comprehensive leadership coverage model, ensuring operational oversight and passenger engagement during peak times, dedicating approximately 80% of the day to direct involvement with the team and operations.
  • Engage actively with team members and passengers, providing coaching and support at departure gates, on the ramp, and at check-in counters, particularly during busy travel periods.
  • Supervise the team’s execution of safe and reliable aircraft turnarounds, identifying and addressing any obstacles that may hinder performance.
  • Ensure that all necessary resources, including team members and equipment, are available and functioning to facilitate smooth operations.
  • Monitor compliance with safety protocols and promote a culture of safety within the station.
  • Oversee the quality of customer service provided by team members, ensuring adherence to Porter's service standards.
  • Conduct regular performance audits and after-action reviews to identify areas for improvement and reinforce successful practices.
  • Foster a high level of team member engagement and morale, modeling behaviors that align with the company’s values.
  • Support the development of team members through training and skill enhancement initiatives.
  • Actively participate in safety management practices, reporting any hazards or incidents encountered during operations.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in the airline industry, with a background in customer service or ramp operations.
  • At least 2 years of leadership experience.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain necessary security clearances.
  • Post-secondary education or equivalent experience.
  • Strong planning and resource management skills, with the ability to work flexible hours.
  • Proven leadership and communication abilities.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Fluency in English; proficiency in French is an asset.
