Position Overview:

Our highway engineering division is pivotal in executing a variety of Ministry of Transportation (MTO) design initiatives, including highway expansions and bridge renovations. As a key member of our Highway Engineering Team, your role will concentrate on the technical delivery of projects, particularly through the use of InRoads/OpenRoads software. We seek individuals who are passionate about overcoming technical challenges and are committed to staying updated with the latest advancements in technology and software tools.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • A degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Licensed as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or eligible for licensure within one year.
  • Established a strong reputation through work with the MTO.
  • Experience in highway engineering within a consulting environment.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of highway engineering principles, including relevant policies and guidelines.
  • Proven experience in detailed design work with strong design capabilities.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with team members, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and creative thinking.
  • Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle with appropriate registration and insurance.
  • 4 to 7 years of relevant experience in highway design, particularly with MTO projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a highway engineer for MTO preliminary and detailed design transportation projects.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers and technical staff on your projects.
  • Develop designs for various highway facilities, including freeways, urban and rural multi-lane and two-lane roads, interchanges, and intersections.
  • Prepare technical documentation, contract materials, design drawings, quantity estimates, and cost projections.
  • Create plans, profiles, and design quantities using Civil 3D/InRoads/Open Roads Design software.
  • Conduct initial site inspections and fieldwork for design assignments.
  • Maintain positive relationships with clients and stakeholders.
  • Stay informed about the latest design tools and software in collaboration with senior CAD staff.
