Position Overview
Employment Type: Casual
Department: Bickle Allied Health
Reporting Structure: Reports to Manager
Work Schedule: Varies, primarily during daytime hours
Compensation: Competitive hourly rate
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients to determine service needs and formulate treatment recommendations.
- Develop and implement intervention strategies in collaboration with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team to promote positive behavioral and emotional changes.
- Regularly review and adjust intervention plans as necessary to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Collaborate with community agencies to facilitate patient support and resources.
- Complete necessary documentation for Alternate Level of Care (ALC) facilities and coordinate with the healthcare team and community organizations regarding patients' psychosocial needs.
- Provide immediate services that benefit both the hospital and the surrounding community.
- Deliver clinical education to Social Work students, medical students, and professional colleagues within UHN and affiliated institutions.
- Engage in relevant research initiatives and projects.
- Participate in activities that enhance the effective operation of the Social Work professional group.
Required Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Social Work.
- Registration with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers.
- Preferred membership in the Ontario Association of Social Workers.
- Minimum of three years of experience working in a hospital environment as part of an interdisciplinary team.
- Experience in acute care settings is preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and time management abilities.
- Proven problem-solving skills.
- Research experience is an asset.
- Experience in student education and supervision is advantageous.
- Familiarity with policies and legislation related to social welfare services.
- Knowledge of a second language is beneficial.
