Your Opportunity:

As a member of the Diagnostic Imaging team at Alberta Health Services, this position is required to work all shifts and on-call, as assigned. These pillars guide the development and delivery of service to all patients and families at our facilities.

Job Summary:

As a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Technologist, you will produce and record magnetic resonance images for interpretation by a Radiologist or Cardiologist for the purpose of diagnosis and tracking of disease and pathology. You will produce high quality diagnostic MRI images as ordered by a Physician, prepare and position patients for examination, review patient history, explain procedures, respond to the physical and psychological needs of patients throughout the scanning procedure, and maintain MRI equipment.

Required Qualifications:
  • Completion of diploma from an accredited Medical Resonance Imaging (MRI) Program required or completion of certificate from an accredited MRI Technologist program plus a diploma from an accredited Program in Medical Radiology, Diagnostic Medical Sonography (Ultrasound), Nuclear Medicine or Radiation Therapy.
  • Active or eligible for registration with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT).
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:
  • Member in good standing and current registration/eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic and Therapeutic Technologists (ACMDTT).
  • Proficient technical and computer skills.
  • Good organizational skills and ability to assume responsibility.
  • Demonstrates initiative, accountability, good judgment and concern for detail and accuracy.
  • Able to work under pressure and in emergency situations.
  • Practices effective infection prevention control and MRI safety techniques as applicable.
  • Able to work confidently both independently and within collaborative partnerships/teams.
  • Possesses good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Able to demonstrate tact and courtesy in dealing with patients, staff, and physicians.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Enhanced Practice in Medication Administration through ACMDTT.
  • Enhanced practice in Venipuncture through ACMDTT.
