Job Title: Student Practice Manager

The Student Practice Manager will develop and manage a centralized resource allocation system to distribute work and growth opportunities to summer and articling students. This role requires a passion for innovation and strong project management skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop systems and protocols to track student work and growth opportunities
  • Establish and implement work allocation best practices
  • Deliver and reinforce docketing and practice management training to students
  • Meet with students and lawyers to facilitate optimal resourcing and delegation of non-billable tasks and projects
  • Provide input to the Director, Student Programs and Legal Recruitment, and the Students Committee on student resourcing and capacity levels
Requirements:

This position requires an undergraduate degree and a minimum of 5 years' experience in a large law or professional services firm in a supervisory or managerial role. Alternatively, a law degree and experience practicing in a large law firm, coupled with an appetite to acquire strong management and program implementation skills, is also acceptable.

The ideal candidate will possess strong collaboration skills, be innovative and analytical, and have highly developed organizational skills. Excellent interpersonal, listening, and communication skills are also essential. Proficiency in the full Microsoft Suite, Outlook, and SharePoint is required.
