Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Industrial Light & Magic Full time

Job Overview:

Position Overview

This position is classified as Hybrid, meaning the employee will spend 2-3 days working onsite at a designated location and occasionally work from home.

Our Generalist division is a distinctive sector where Generalists autonomously create comprehensive photorealistic environments that integrate flawlessly with the footage, taking full responsibility for the visual output.

They exhibit exceptional skills in both digital and traditional art forms, possessing a keen eye for composition and photographic nuances. The tasks vary significantly, ranging from set extensions utilizing Digital Matte Painting techniques to entirely computer-generated environments.

The Generalist Supervisor serves as the foundation of the environment team for the project. They engage early in the production to discuss budgeting and strategize workflows for the environment creation alongside the production team and the CG supervisor. They prepare the setups, templates, and asset workflows to ensure everything is primed for the team’s involvement in the project.

The Generalist Supervisor is a specialist in their field, overseeing their team within the production timeline and guiding them towards the visual aesthetic of the project, while also liaising with production and other departments involved. We seek an individual who is hands-on, capable of troubleshooting artist files and managing shot work when necessary.

They are a role model within the department, mentoring artists to uphold a high standard of quality in our outputs.

We are in search of a creative and technically adept individual who embodies the innovative spirit, artistic talent, production excellence, collaborative mindset, and passion for exceptional filmmaking that characterizes Industrial Light & Magic.
