The Canadian Mental Health Association Toronto Branch is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Peer Support Specialist to join our team. As a Peer Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in providing support and guidance to individuals who have experienced mental health challenges.
Key Responsibilities- Provide community support to clients, including skill teaching, supportive counseling, crisis intervention, health monitoring, and linking to resources.
- Conduct assessments and assist clients to develop goals for recovery using one-to-one and group sessions.
- Collaborate with the multi-disciplinary team as part of the Coordinated Specialty Care for Psychosis Model to build a client care plan and provide peer expertise for client care.
- Primary case management work, including assessment and service planning.
- Liaise with community providers and family members.
- Referrals and linkages to community resources and groups that support recovery goals.
- Facilitate client empowerment and recovery.
- Experience as a consumer of mental health services is essential, as well as a willingness to share experience.
- Minimum community college diploma in social services.
- Peer certification is an asset.
- Experience working in team environments.
- Basic counseling and crisis intervention skills.
- Ability to work from a recovery perspective.
- Fluency in a second language and experience working with diverse communities.
